Can I Use 2 7300GS in SLI?

I have one right now and it's just not getting the job done by itsself. I like to play games but I don't have much money for a new graphics card. With Battlefield 2 Maxed out I get about 7FPS, same with Quake 4 on 2x AA. Almost unplayable to say the least. I'd like to be able to Max out newer games with 4x AA with a decent frame rate. Now, my Nvidia control panel has the SLI option. Some websites say it cannot do SLI but if it can I need to know if 2 7300GS's will be more efficient than 1 of something else. I only have about $100 right now, which buys a 7300gs. And if I would buy one, Best Buy charges $40 to install it. I would need to know how to install a graphics card too (I can't throw away $40 like that). I would appreciate any information or assistance on this matter. Thanks.

yes, that card can run pretty much every title at high/max settings, but do expect to have to sacrifise eaither aa or shadows on the more demanding titles, but my rig is as follows.

Amd X2 4200
2 gb Pc 3200
XFX G-7900gs XXX

And i can run bf2142 at max settings 1280x1024. So i think that it would be your best option.

I,m pretty sure you can run 7300gs in SLI, but without the bridge, not sure how well they would run. But like said above you would be better off going with one 7900GS or even a 8600GTS

do some study, look at your options, personaly i xould upgrade to a newer card and SLI that later. im using a 8500GT from zotac (directX 10 compatible) and it seems to do quite well gaming wise.

sorry i took so long to reply to this thread.

personaly i would get the 7900Gs and just run that on its own instead of 2x 7300Gs in SLI.

the 7900Gs would probably be better than 2 7300Gs in SLI anyway:D

A 7600GT would be better then two 7300's in SLI.

Agree, I personally would buy a 7600 GT since they can still run most games at decent fps. I have the rig in my sig and i can max out serious sam 2, cs, transformers (lol, which has poor gameplay!) and i can play graw and oblivion on high with no problems....

I saw the evga 7600gt on $90 de other day on newegg, so if you can't or just dont feel like saving up for the 7900gs just get a 7600gt you wont regret it!

Hope that helped... :D

I appreciate all of the helpful replies. One of a more expensive card seems to be the way to go. There's a $138 8600GTS on NewEgg which seems okay but I don't know.

Never bought online before and don't know how but it's $90 cheaper than at Best Buy. I hope you don't need a credit card to purchase it. I'm just 15 anyway and my parents don't know anything about computers. But the price is so good. Any more info or assistance is appreciated.

Well, there are other ways of payment such as paypal or money orders i think, but the easiest way is a credit card... just give the money to your parents and ask them to use their card, thats what i've done. Im 15 too btw.
And about the price online, it is 10 times better to buy online unless theres a big deal on a retail store. When i got my 7600gt on Newegg for $145 it was at $250 on a CompUSA reatiler...

Overall, yeah the 8600gts is a great option :D

My family has no credit cards. Buying online seems too complicated for me. But I don't even know if my computer supports sli. I don't know how to find out either. I don't even think my graphics card supports sli. I don't have an sli connector, don't know how all that works. I looked inside my computer and saw my card was connected in a long black connection hole. the other two empty connection holes were identical looking but white. I basicly have a Gateway 420GR. Please someone tell me if SLI is possible with my computer and card.

Apparently you have one PCI-e slot, so you can't SLI. Sorry.

I'd get the 7900GS, I had one and it was great, I could play all my games on max settings at 1280 x 1024! I recomend it! :)

no sli isnt gonna work with that computer, and overall, buying online is more simple then buying at a store anyways. you type in your name, address, credit card information, order the product, and they send it to you. couldnt be easier. buy the 7600GT you wont be sorry in the least, like you will be if you get a 7300

The 8600GTS looks good, I'll try to convince my parents tomorrow. But, how do ya'll think a game like Crysis would run on that card? I want to be able to play the best games on high settings. Thanks again!

A 8600GTS probably wouldn't play the newest games on the highest settings, but it should do well with medium res and high settings without AA and stuff. If you really want to play with max settings, get the 8800GTS 320 for a bit more.

I agree with you as my XFX 8600GT also handles all the games at high setting at medium resolution. And I can even turn on AA also. But 8600GTs is better than GT.
