can i use a usb cord to set up a lan game?

ok my wireless router keeps losing connectivity, (damn thing) but me and my bro still want to play. can we use this huge usb cord we have to hook up our computers?

I know you can connect computers via a USB cable, but im not sure if you can play LAN games over it or not.

What you may want to do if thats not possible, is buy a cheap crossover cable to connect the machines.

I would just direct link them with an ethernet cable, since it is LAN.

As others said, go with standard networking cables. I beleive they can go farther than USB cables, plus USB probably wouldn't work. I'm quite sure unless you find a way to emulate network cards between the machines, you won't be able to get it to work...

You can get it cheaper than that, you have to 'crimp' the ends though.

well becuse we have this great usb cord thats like 35' long lol... but ok i guess the logical coarse would be to just buy some ethernet cables. what will i have to download or emulate for his laptop to recognize my computer and also be able to play age of empires lan?
