ram

Hello everyone. I need some help about RAM. In the picture above there are two RAMs. The one labelled (A) is the one my computer uses, on it is written:" 16mx64 PC133 SDRAM DIMM 128Mb ". Now (B) is another RAM of a type I do not know, I looks slightly different, yet is similar in ways such as the number and order of golden dashes and puncures on the attachment side. All I know about (B) is that written on it is:" SEC Korea KMM366S203BTN-G2M 9731 ". My question is could RAM (B) work on my computer?

Your Help would be much appreciated, Thank you.

They don't really look the exact same: you see the 4 lobes aren't present on the back of (A) as they are in (B). Plus in (B) there is a space in the middle dividing the 4 lobes into 2 pairs, whereas that is not present in (A).

those "lobes" are actually proportionate to how much memory is on the ram stick. the more "lobes" it has, the more memory the stick can hold. they appear to be the same type of ram.

you wouldnt be able to install anything other than what your mobo can use. each different type of ram is notched on the bottom differently, so that this problem doesnt happen.

Both of those sticks look like 184pin DDR.

You could use them both, but depending on the frequency of the
sticks, they will only run at the slowest speed of the two.

Well here's what happened guys, I removed my 128Mb DIMM and put that (B) in its place. Then I turned on the computer, and its internal speaker started to BEEP like this: "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP....BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.....BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP" (like 5-second-long beeps), and it the computer wouldn't start. So I turned it off and removed it, and replaced my old one. Its wierd since (B) fits in the slot perfectly, and as "dubes" said, "if it doesn't work, it doesn't fit".

What motherboard do you have? Or what model is your computer? There's a little more to it than if it fits it works.
