Can Ip adresses be found through email?

Can your Email address with HOTMAIL.co.uk be used by someone you talk to on msn to find out your IP address, and your ISP? If so, what information would they give out to the person?

Like does it give out the area in which you live, who you are etc

PLEASE someone let me know if this is information easily found from a simple email or msn conversation!

You can view the headers which will tell you the origin of the IP, but if it is webmail it is just going to give you the IP of where their mail server is.

You can track down general areas, like zip codes but you can't track down exact locations with out the help of the ISP.

Use gmail or yahoo web mail, those IPs will be from their data center in like California or where ever they are.
 
There are reasons you don't want to be tracked when dealing with specific people.

Use webmail and the IPs from the headers will be from their data center. That is also why almost every scammer uses yahoo web mail. All those fake ads online about buying goods from Nigeria (obvious scam) but they pretend to be Americans and they use yahoo accounts from the US yahoo data center.
 
JAY - You may have reason to be a paranoid person, and in this case so do i, and it revolves around my sons safety - so get a life before you judge others for their problems.
