even if the computer or psu isn't turned on or connected could the motherboard be damaged? i connected it(1st time) by mistake then corrected it but im not sure if it could be damaged..any help thanks

Yes, you might have shorted it out and fried it, although usualy it just keeps the board from booting.

i see..but i ddint even turn it on..so even if the motherboard touches the base plate it'll fry automatically? i screwed it in..then realized it was incorrect since the screws wouldn't fit and i removed it but if it touches the base plate it'll fry automatically?

Well you could have had static electricity in your body and screwing it to the base plate without using the mounty screws it may have sent electricity through the case and fried it.

Well in his first post (if you read the whole thing :P), said that he had it touching the base plate but it wasnt on.

It will only get affected if you turn it on, otherwise it will be fine.
