can motherboard with 8x AGP slot support any 8xAGP card, also...?

Hi, can anyone please help me with this question i want to buy an AGP 8x card for my (MSI MS 6712) motherboard which is DDR1 with onboard 256mb ATI 9200 graphics, basically can i fit any 8x AGP card (ddr2 or ddr3). ALso if i can, can someone advise whether it is worth fitting a fast AGP card, if the rest of the system is'nt! One more thing sorry to be a pain! can anyone tell me the best type's of 512mb 8x agp card i could use with this motherboard. Any help anyone can give would be extremely appreciated.
