Can Overclocking Wear Down the GPU?

A couple months ago I overclocked my Radeon 5770. It's at 960 core (the highest I could set it with AMD Vision Center) and 1300 memory.

It's running great and had absolutely no problems. I tried pushing the memory speed more but it didn't want to have any of that so it stays at 1300.

My case is very well cooled. 120mm intake at the front, 120mm on the side lower intake, 120mm side upper (directly above the previous and right next to the video card) exhaust, 140mm exhaust top, 120mm exhaust back.

My question is, with a safe Overclock like I have, will it shorten the span of my video card at all? I'm planning on keeping this card for at least 2 years and want it to last as longs as possible.
 
It could but since you are not over volting it is not likely. If you were pushing the card to it's max I would be a bit more concerned. You should be fine.

I haven't touched any voltages, just adjusted the bars in Vision Engine Center.

It sits at about 33 at idle and goes up to 65 when gaming. I think I've seen it hit 70 once.
 
you cant guarantee is will last 2 years. It could blow tomorrow, but the risk of it blowing is unlikely to have risen materially as a result of your overclock

That's what I wanted to say, yes. But he's got a good PSU and temps, so he's in no danger unless he starts to see artifacts or problems. Then I would bring it back to stock speeds.
 
I tried pushing the memory speed up more. It worked fine and but then crashed in TF2 so I just brought it back down. I'm still amazed that a $100 card can play anything I want it to. Of course... I haven't tried BF3.
 
well a 5670/6570 can play any and every game out there, it's just a matter of the resolution and settings.
 
yeah, past like the 67/6800's, the price to performance takes a really big hit. Are you playing at 1080p or what though?
 
1600x900 as in my sig.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would by anything higher than a 560TI unless your using multiple monitors or a really high resolution. Yeah you may be prepping for the future but it still seems pointless when you can get the same thing later for less.
