For now, no.

You can do 6GB and keep dual channel capability. get a 2x2GB kit and a 2x1GB kit. You've chosen a triple channel memory kit when AMD systems only do dual channel (hence 4 RAM slots)

You haven't chosen a PSU so I'll recommend this:

i already have a thermaltake 700w PSU.

as far as the ram, would the 6gb be noticeable over 4gb?

any advice on if i should go with a solid state drive?

Not CD/DVD drive to install that copy of Windows?

That's a very nice board, but if you never plan to Crossfire,
(and you certainly won't need to with a HD5850) you can get by much cheaper.

6 Core Phenom is overkill also, but it's personal preference.
If you've got the cash, then build it. :good:

sorry, i have 2 drives from my old computer that i will be using

i would like to crossfire perhaps at some point, which is why i chose this board. so i can leave my options open later on down the road.
would you have another opinion on a different GPU perhaps?
i would like to hook this up to a <50" tv every now and then to play games

i understand for the most part it is overkill right now, but i plan on using this for a long time to come and would rather spend a little more now than worry about upgrading again in a year or so.
