can someone gain entry into your PC??

I have been on two forums, and one of which i am suspicious if the administrator has somehow gained entry into my computer. he posted a note in the general post that read

Anyone that uses someone else's account without their permission, is an idiot.

But if you want to see just how easy it is to use someone else's account without their permission..... click on the graphic image in the bottom right hand corner. I've set it up so you can read all of steelheads MSN messages and if he is at home, you have full access to his My Documents folder.

Go ahead. Click on it.

This was after i found a good friend of mine had left himself logged on to a public comp at work.. so i had a little fun with him. Nothing to bad just some good clean humour. he and i have laughed about it since, no harm done..

but i was wondering if the adminastrator could gain entry into my comp or could he do this somehow.

I would love to know. i also would like to know how to block my IP.
If he can gain entry what are the limitations can he read emails, hotmail,msn?
can he do as he pleases? If so how do i get rid of this?
When i registered to his site he has a chat room and i had to upgrade java to get into it, maybe there he might have been able to do something?

a skilled hacker can basically do anything he wants. if the fbi can get hacked by an 11 year old, im sure someone can get into your computer.
if you are paranoid you can always get a firewall ie. zone alarm.
 
lol the only way to keep ppl out of your comp for sure is to not connect to the internet, correct me if i'm wrong.

so reallly it's just that easy.
i have a new dell with norton, but i guess i may need something more. I really don't think i'm paraoid, just a little nervious about what can be done.
So it looks like a zone alarm maybe the answer.
 
im prett sure if you give a hacker enough time he/she could get through nearly every firewall that exists. Yeh, scary.... but why is anyone going to want to hack you out of the billions of other pc's there are. As previously stated the FBI, a hacker is more likely to spend time working n the FBI than trying to gain access to your PC
 
i just talked to the adminastrator..

i just talked to the guy i thought had done this. He asures me it can't be done. And he could not access my comp by just me logging onto his webboard.
Although i still don't beleive him i have been told a 440 dollar firewall would stop this.
A piece of hardware that plugs right into you comp. I guess i may do this.
As i still don't trust him..

any ideas on which piece of hardware to purchase...???
