Can someone help me turn off my system restore?

I started the sticky about spyware removal and didn't get too far. When I went to properties, there wasn't a system restore box to check. I have win98, so it might be different.

There isnt a system restore tool in windows 98

So if I do what the spyware sticky post says, the spyware will just come back?

No, the system restore in the sticky is so that you can't go back to an earlier point and re-install the spyware. As your OS hasn't got system restore, its not a problem.
