R Hello computerforum.
Now, I have recently bought a new computer for my girlfriend's family. After setting it up I needed to connect it to the home network via an ethernet cable to the router. . After doing so i realised that the router yad been factory reset by her dad and now when i plug the pc in or even try and connect via wireless i cant get any internet. After further inspection I found that the router didnt lead to a modem but an "ASDL Filter" that split off from the wall to the phones and tue router. Can someone explain what this is and whats going on with the internet? Thanks

Sounds like your internet is through ADSL (Telephone line)
The Filter/splitter is required for this.
Usually from the filter you connect to modem then onto a router to PC's.
Sometimes you can have a Router/Modem integrated as one unit.
If the router has been reset it might need setting up in its settings.
Type 192.168.1.1 in the browser to enter the set up of the router and check your settings, it would pay to check the manufactures website of your router to get hold of a user guide if possible to help you adjust the settings if you are unfamiliar with it.

Some routers have a modem built into them. That's probably the case here. If it was factory reset you need to reenter the login credentials so the modem knows how to connect. Your ISP should have sent a guide on how to do this.
