Can this be done?

Is it possible to setup a computer with two monitors, two mice, and two keyboards such that one user can log into her account and another user can log into her account simultaneously. Note: this is different from logging in remotely from a separate computer. I'm wondering if this can be done with a single computer and have the cables for the monitors, mice, and keyboards splicing, and the monitors display two independent profiles.

Not exactly, but it's possible to use a slower computer to essentially become the second monitor, mouse, and keyboard(frontend), while the more powerful computer does all the processing(backend). I'll let someone with more knowledge explain it better.

Basically all you need to get it working is an old laptop, a network, and the proper software.

No, you can't have one computer use 2 different mice/cursors on 2 separate screens. Same with keyboards. Why do you want to do this? If it's for everything stored in one place, not money, then you could build a home server. It's really cheap since they don't need anything anywhere near fast as far as processors go. An old desktop would work.

It's for a couple coworkers. We want to minimize the number of computers used. But if it can't be done, that fine. I know how to network and setup one computer as a server.
