Can this be made any worse?

Due to our family comp (a emachine t3393) starting to fail i figured id clean it up a little bit and throw a old geforce 6200 video card in it. Then i noticed a nice layer of dust under the heatsink fan so i had to unscrew the fan from this heatsink. Cleaned the dust off the plastic heatsink (plastic ?!?!?!) and then looked for the holes to screw the fan into... Turns out it is screwed on inbetween 2 of the plastic fins... lol is this normal???
 
I know the computer you're talking about...my mother has one. The heat sink is Aluminum. If it were plastic, the CPU would have fried itself by now.

That thing has some epic fans on it for an OEM machine, lol.

that cant be aluminum lol feels exactly like plastic...

only fan is the crazy loud heatsink :) lol what i dont get is why it screws inbetween 2 fins haha.
 
Plastic is a terrible conductor of heat...believe me, that's aluminum.

Also, those use fairly high speed PWM fans for both the CPU and rear fan. If the computer gets hot enough, you can bet it'll start sounding like a vacuum cleaner in there, haha.

you could always take it out turn it upside down and take a lighter and try to melt it. if it melts it isn't any good and should have been replaced already.
