..Im making a new gaming rig, and I'm wondering that if I put all this together, it should actaully work right? This is the first time I ever built a gaming PC. Any recomendations are helpful, thanks.

I picked the GTS over the GT because of how the GT's are still border-line $300. The GTS (Believe) performs around 10-15% better than the GT.

1) What's the point in having a DVD-ROM drive and a DVD-Burner? You realize that DVD Burners CAN read DVD's, right? Also, if you really do need that extra DVD-ROM drive, try and go with a SATA one. It'll provide better airflow.

2) I'd go with some Corsair XMS2 RAM. It's cheaper after Mail-in Rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590

3) Spend a little extra and go with Vista Home Premium. Vista Home Basic is a joke and you'll be appauled at all the things that you CAN'T do. And it's also my personal preference to avoid Vista alltogether and stick with XP if you can. It's just my opinion. You said you want this to be a gaming build though. Keep in mind that XP has no support for DX10.

For 4GB, the RAM I mentioned is going to be cheaper than the WINTEC stuff after rebate and will probably be more reliable since Corsair is name brand.

Go for a SATA drive too. Much better.
 
Alright, I changed the ram and DVD burner. However, I'm a little skeptical about rebates. Sometimes I get stiffed and never recieve them after mailing. I'm still gunna choose the patriot ram and evga 8800, but still .. : /
 
CAS Latency 4 is not necessarily 20% faster than CAS Latency 5. It may seem that way, but it's not. There are a lot more factors that can contribute to speed differences.

Althought the 20% may be a bit off, it probably came pretty close.

The lower the CAS the faster the cycles...

Yes, alot more factors... Like the speed (DDR2-800), quality (both are good makes...), latencies (4 vs 5).... voltages... ect.

But overall, the Patriot RAM wins... On price and performance.
 
That is true Oscaryu1, because, he will see a increase in gaming, boot times, and all-around computing with a lower CAS latency.
