I would either cut back on the GPU or the monitor, or both.

You could go for a 7900GT and down grade to a monitor with a little bit of a higher response time for cheaper.

With dell I get an e6400, 2gb of ram, speakers, keyboard, mouse, 4 year warranty, XP OS and Microsoft office, and Vista.

Even though all the parts are not brand name they last quite awhile, and with $1,500 I can get a lot from dell.

Cut back to a Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 motherboard and a 7900GS.

Also, by all means don't get a Dell!

Do you need Office Professional? Here's Small business for a lot cheaper:

I don't know what you need this for, but if you just need it for academic purposes, you can get Office 2003 Professional for under $200.

Ku-sama is correct that if you would like to have a computer with a decent graphics performance you don't want to go with Dell or most any other retail company. You can eliminate MS Office by using Open Office, which is open source and free for download. It's completely compatible with MS Office, and IMO, a lot easier to use (it doesn't assume you're an idiot, so it doesn't change stuff on you all the time...).

Well, getting rid of purchasing MS Office will free up over a hundred bucks, then trim the vid card, RAM, and maybe mobo, and you should be in business.

are u kidding, that 400 watt psu has 12 amps on the +12v u need at least dual 18amps to be comfortable

i have 18 amps on the 12v on my 300 watt psu, so that psu is more like a cheapy 200-250 watt, thats a bad idea
