Can you help me get the best computer.

I'm thinking about getting a new PC, either buying some brand name box, or attempt building one. What would you get if you could get what ever you wanted?
I was thinking I should get the fastest/best type CPU (multicore 64???). The best suitable motherboard for that CPU, one that would allow for the most/best/fastest memory, and the most expansion slots.
I would probably want to get a massive hard drive, the best sound and video cards probably with a tuner with remote.
alot of usb, memorycard, av inputs, the most options available.
Skys the limmit, any ideas?
:D

the only problem with upgrading certain parts is that they probably aren't compatible with older computers (how old is your computer) if it is 2 or more years old, then you can't just upgrade certain parts you are going to have to buy or build a new computer

Sorry, actualy I wanted to buy a new PC or build from scratch, I guess what I'm look for is a parts list or the name of a top notch prebuilt.

i would recomend this processor

this motherboard

2 of these ram

2 of this video card

this harddrive
your computer would load in only a few seconds with this, even tho it is only 300GB when you can get around 500GB this harddrive is extremely fast!

this case
you could OC nicely with having up 9 120mm fans and you could also get a water cooling system

this sound card

this TV Tuner & FM Tuner w/ Windows Media Center

this monitor

this remote control for media center

this keyboard for media center

and this mouse

and these speakers

:( :o or you could help a poor 14 year old kid pay for the computer he is saving up for in his signature:( :o

Just a few problems. Your motherboard is SLI, and running two of the graphics cards (which, because he has no budget as of yet, would be replaced by the x1900XTX, as they are the fastest cards on the market right now) would require a Crossfire board.

Also, he would need a SCSI card to run that hard drive.

The machine you put together isn't anywhere close to the theoretical machine you could make with an unlimited budget.

Agreed. I was just trying to get across the point that 'the sky's not the limit', and we really do need a budget & intent.

Is this true, or do you have a budget? :P
the budget is not my problem, although I was only looking to spend roughly $3,000, I only hope I can do a good enough job building one myself, I dont want an expencive self-built lemon, but if I can do it, I might as well do it right.

I'm no wiz, the last time I built a PC was in 1999, but it still runs today, your right a lot of this is way over my head , I guess what I really want is:

1 really good CPU
1 really good motherboard
a single large HD no pinstriping or whatever its called
the best and max Ram the motherboard can handle
1 really good video card with tuner (I liked the one pictured before)
1 really good sound card
and that case was really cool

I didn't even think about cooling or multipuil video cards,
But I think I still would like to try and build my own.

It would be used for surfing, gaming, art programs, digital video, and photos, and maybe a Tivo like thing too. As far as speakers and stuff I would like to hook it up to my stereo and use my new Sony 32" hdtv flat pannel lcd tv as the monitor its in my room and that way we cold watch videos or surf from the bed or listen to mp3s with my stereo speakers, thats why I thought a tuner would be cool and some kind of sound card that was able to send digital signals to my reciever. I'd also like to rip sounds and songs straight from dvds and make my own waves or ringtones or whatever.

so what do you think is all that possible or do I have to buy a pre-built system.
