Can you install windows more than once?

I mean like if you buy an OEM version of, say, vista basic, can you install it on multiple computers? Maybe not to sell all of the computers, but if you own all of them? Sorry if this is kind of a dumb question... I've never really installed windows on a PC before. Doesn't it have a little security code that you have to enter?

1 licence = 1 computer

and with OEM copies, you cant take it off one and put it on another, its forever tied to that hardware

Actually, that's incorrect. If something happens to the hardware, you can Install and re-activate it on another Build, so long as the EULA is adhered to.
