Would it be better to just put the disc onto a new HDD? I have some very important files that I don't want to lose by just throwing the burned HDD away (I think it was burned by a short inside the computer), and the HDD won't boot on any computer. I already have a new, clean HDD.
 
No you can't. If the files are that important to you, you will have to send the drive to a professional recovery service to see if they can recover the files.
