Hey could you tell the difference between a short circuited unit and a malfuntioning unit? or is that basically the same thing?

o no theres really no sitituation...i think im just scaring myself...i havent finished...but im already thinking of these weird things(ya this is my first time) heh

Well if a unit had a short it would be malfunctioning. :-P

Seriously though, a short is when the electrical path is altered in a way you don't intend for it to go causing a malfunction. For example a short on a fan can cause it to start on high and will not allow use on either low or medium settings. I am talking about a traditional fan, a room fan as an example.

What piece of equipment are you concerned with?

mobo i was really concerned w/....but it seems to b working for now...but i do have a question...should the cpu fan start running right away or does it wait for a while? i may have messed up wen applying thermal paste...like i mean i turned it on and wait...and didnt want to risk anythng so i turned it off and want to ask you guys...

thats a big mess..basically the question is...if my cpu fan doesnt turn on w/ the computer...is that normal? or did i connect something wrong? i only connected the cpu fan to the mobo...is there another connection i missed? to the psu mayb? thanks

Do you have the stock HSF? If you have a digital cameras take some pictures of the whole setup, it will probably help.

You should have learned how to build with older parts first before buying all this nice stuff and mashing it together. Hope you're careful and that it actually works.
