cannot conect please help!

Hey everyone.
On my other computer i am having problems.
I havent used it in about a year and i decided to start it up and try to put all my pictures online through picturetrail.
So i hooked up my ethernet cable and when i went to open ie6 it says it caused a problem with unknown. So whatever i open netscape and it say it connot find the webpage or something like that. Ik the ethernet cable works because its the same cord hooked to the same spot as i am using now i just unplugged this computer and hooked it into the other one. When i hook it n the little light lights up on the back.

I have trieed configuring it and everything and have no clue whats wrong.
Any help would be grea thanks.
 
i have no idea what thtat means. im a noob.
please explain what you mean please.
Also i know with some games there is a cache folder that gets overloaded is there such for internet?
 
maybe the internet is slow, can't load page like that. when i was using dial up my internet couldn't open some page coz it is very slow >.<
