Cannot connect to my server!!

I have a server running on windows server 2003. Ive set it up as the domain controller. The DNS setting are all correct and it has an active connection to the network. When i try and add my laptop to the domain, it says the network path cannot be found.

Please can someone tell me how to resolve the problem.

Cohen, it does not matter, which OS, 2000 or XP, the same error will occur.
A network path error surely means there's a wrong configuration with the server. is the server 2008 ? your username makes me think so.
setting up a domain is not an easy task.
are you on a home network ?

why a domain controller on a home network ?
check the event log for errors on the server am pretty sure somethings up with the server and not the connecting pc.

Let's also assume everything is ok on the server, when you select "log on to"
on the connecting pc, is that when you get the path not found ?

when you created the forest, what was the functional level ?

ok let's troubleshoot
- First ping from the server to the workstation (using ip's)
- Then the other way around
If either of them doesn't work you need to check your cabling and your ip settings (if you don't know what to check post your tcp/ip settings)

If it does work do the following:
- ping from the server to the workstation (using computer names)
- then the other way around
if this doesn't work, your dns isn't properly configured. Check your dns.

If that does work post back here again and we'll go from there on.
