Cannot delete file

Hi guys
I have on my desktop an empty folder "a" with another empty folder inside of it called "system". This was previously my jpeg picture I uploaded to the architecture thread

How and why it changed I don't know but it will not allow me to delete it, I have tried in safe mode and from the command prompt. If I click on it, it opens the preview window as if it is a picture but says "Cannot preview".See the pic of what error I am getting and any help in how to delete it would be nice :)

Shift+del, nope "Cannot read from source file or disc"

Tried Safe Mode and Command prompt, still no joy

EDIT: By the way "0 bytes" are in folder and subfolder

Yea, after every try

Apparently Folder "a" on desktop has another folder "b" inside of it with another folder "system." inside of that. I can rename "a" and "b" but do nothing with "system." folder. So this looks like the problem one. Error says it refers to a location that is not available

Just gone into "Safe Mode" again with "Command prompt" and navigated to desktop then folder "a". Entered command del *.* and it said Y/N, pressed Y but it's still there.

OK guys, thanks for your advice and I tried all those programs out there called Bomb it, kill it, murder it and give it a good kickin but still no good. Eventually I had to do a System Restore which I didn't want to do but it succeeded where the dos prompt failed, I wonder why?

Yea, I tried that one as well, all these programs refused to acknowledge it, couldn't even see it . I would have thought going back to basics and using the Command prompt would have killed it. Very strange, it must have been a corrupt registry entry.
