cannot get into windows

earlier today i turned off my computer, with nothing going worng, and went out. tonight i came home, attempted to turn it on, and i recieve a "C:/windows/system32/config/system/" missing or corrupt message, and therefore windows will not start. so, i insert the windows xp cd to reformat or repair, but this announces that "ql10wnt.sys" is corrupt which is apparently a qlogic scsi driver, which i cannot find anywhere on the internet. so, it seems that i have no way of getting back onto my computer. ill be very, very grateful for any help with this :(

what did you exactly do ? format or repair ?
 
i didnt format or repair because it wont let me. i have to boot first from the rom drive and then it starts downloading raid and scsi stuff from the windows cd but gets stuck on the ql10nt.sys thing and restarts

Make sure the cd reading surface is clean. If it's clean but it does the same, try changing your CD drives.
 
its not the drive or the cd. ive googled it and found others with who have had the exact same problem... except ive found no solutions.


this site: http://www.windll.com/sys-q_000.php actually has the file for download (ql10nwt.sys) but wants $20 for the stupid thing


edit: just tried knoppix but the computer wont recognize it and so just continues to the "c:/windows/system32/config/system" error screen
JUST IN: knoppix is now running and i am currently backing up all my files, unfortunately i dont know how i will ever get back into windows any help with that will be greatly appreciated :)

so...

is there any way that i can clean out this harddrive so that i dont need to buy another one? if i put it into another computer as a slave can i delete windows from it and start anew? help. please :(
