cannot install windows

First of all, my computer displays the missing or corrupt hal.dll error. I didn't care about fixing this because I thought it was time for a reformat anyway. But when I go to put my xp cd in and boot from it, the computer displays "bad boot.ini" and then it tries to boot from the normal c: drive, which of course displays the hal.dll error.

I have tried the same windows cd on multiple other machines and they all boot from it fine.

This is bind moggling :/

If you have a floppy drive, what you can do is make a Windows 95/98/ME bootable floppy and format from fdisk then install your operating system, that should work :)

Can I download the floppy boot data online?

Also, do you have any idea how this error could occur on one machine but work fine on another?

Yes, you can download the floppy executable online from this link. From what I can see, its not installing because of a bad boot command, no idea why its doing it though.

I know it's really strange.....

Do you think maybe resetting the bios could fix it? Because before windows boots the bios is the only thing that could really interfere right? Or am I wrong?
