Cannot make up my mind - Help

Started this thread a while ago with the goal of building a budget PC to play todays games with:

But with such a tight budget I really wasn't satisfied with what I put together.

Now I need to build another PC that I feel comfortable with. My goal is to build a system that can run today's games on high for the lowest possible cost without compromising quality of components. I'll come up with some ideas after work but until then if anyone has any ideas I'd love to see them.

I really don't have a budget anymore, but I'd like to spend as little as possible. I'm flexible about the cost.

I'll need everything besides the monitor, mouse and keyboard.
 
Well the best way to do it would be some flavor of Phenom II X4/X6 and a 5770.

If you want to max everything out, not just run it on high, a 5850 should do. Maybe even a GTX 460, but there'd be no SLI capability.

it is the same chip just lowered the multiplier from 17 to 16.

For motherboards I would look at something with the 870 chipset if you do not plan to crossfire or the 890FX and 890GX if you do.

Although, if you go a bit cheaper on the case, you may be able to afford a better graphics card.

I'm not sure whether I want to xfire but I just picked that board so I'd have the option in the future...

Thanks. Don't know a whole lot so I didn't think 1600 wouldn't work on my mobo.

I'll go with the GTX 260. What mobo would you recommend to go along with it?
