Hello Big problem please try to help me

this is ip adress 80.238.115.078

I can ping in windows xp

I cannot in windows 7 using 3 diffrent computers

why?

be honestly I have video recorder with 4 cameras in my shop

using fortec viewer at home on the computer with xp everything is okay

but on windows 7 not

why:(

fortec viewer runs in W7

pinging from CMD.exe without any result

no firewal etc

what'a hell is wrong?

Can ya ping from yours windows 7?

Can you ping loopback 127.0.0.1? If not check if TCP/IP is installed. Ping the router? Ping another address on the Internet?

I just tried from a Windows 7 station... This is what I got.

"Ping request could not find host 80.238.115.078. Please check the name and try again."

Then I looked at the original posting... "80.238.115.078" ... why are you trying to ping with a "0" infront of the 78?

That's interesting because XP corrects the .078 to .78 and works fine. I also tried TJPing which also corrects the address.

What exactly is supposed to be at http://80.238.115.78 address?
Nothing comes up in my browser and ping doesn't work either.
Run, cmd, after prompt, ping 80.238.115.78

It's possible that removing the 0 will make the ping work in Win7, and Fortec Viewer, solving Dts512's problem. Normally you would not put leading 0s in anyway but seems more of an issue for Win7.

you are trying to ping a public IP address, are your windows 7 boxes behind a router? Also, you may have to run CMD.exe as administrator to get the ability to run commands? That is a guess.

I had the same issue and then I tried running cmd as admin and it worked... but now I use powershell! I prefer it much more!

yeah I started to tinker with power shell, it is just a bunch of commands which are more Unix-like linked to windows commands.
