Canon MP 268 ink refill kit

My canon mp 268 printer recently ran out of black ink. I bought a simple ink refill kit consisting of a needle with a squeezable pack of ink at one end of the needle (the other end is the sharp end). Do you think that I should take the risk and try out the ink refill kit or should I just buy a new cartilage (which is pretty expensive - about the price of 1/3rd of the printer)? Any help is appreciated.

I've heard some pretty bad things about ink refill kits, and how they can cause the cartridge to rupture spilling ink all over your printer. If you want to save money, I would just recommend buying off brand cartridges.
