helllo guys i have a small issue with a video editing computer. my client has a PCI-X 64-bit canopus editing card that runs on 66mhz.. well we want to upgrade his computer and it seems that not many motherboards have that pci-x slot. he also only uses the firewire end of the card nothing else.. so i have various question.

1. will there be any difference in transfer rates if we just used a regular PCI firewire card? instead of the canopus card

2.i read somewhere that i can plug in the PCI-X card into the PCI slot but it will only run capped at 32bit..

3. is this hassle even worth it? should i make him buy another $3K card??

will the difference between transfer speed be too noticeable?

Nobody can say. What's your client capturing from? If you transfer via firewire, your computer will capture video in real time speed from the camera. Thus if you have an hour long tape, it'll take an hour to capture it.

ahh, thats very interesting i did not know that, and yes he will be capturing from firewire.. so from what i understand.. my client really didn't need the 1.5K canopus card he has now? he only needed just a firewire DV card?
