Hi,

Customer has got a buffalo NAS Drive twin drive setup running in RAID Duplication.
The drive got turned off last week and now can't access the folder on the drive where the data is stored.
The drive can be accessed through the web interface and through the network and can access the info folder on the drive but the share folder cannot. It just comes up with a message saying 'Windows cannot access \\LS\share'

I've tried connecting in directly to the computer but windows can't read the drive because of the format but ive tried ubuntu and linux and alos a bootcd with a program to read that type of drive but nothing will pick it up or access it.....is that bit because of the RAID?

Theres alot of CAD drawings on there which i need to get back and kinda getting desperate now :(

What type of RAID was it running? RAID 1 or 5? Also, what kind of NAS drive was it? You may have a bad hard drive in the configuration. Replacing it would be ideal. It's also possible the RAID controller has died. How old is this thing?

Its running RAID 1. The NAS Drive is a Buffalo LS-WX1. The drive is only about 2-3 months old, I installed it at the customers premises roughly then and was a brand new drive.
If i replaced one drive to see if that helped would it need to be the same size?

For useful information for anyone with the same problem, theres a great program called UFS Explorer which can read the NAS Drives in Windows and allows you to create a virtual RAID with the disks and read the info off there.

Has saved my bacon! (so to speak :P)
