Hi everyone.

I really need your help. My problem is the following.

I had all my pictures saved on my hard disc (separate from the c drive). Moreover, the folder was hidden (not sure whether it was encrypted or something as well.

Then I formated the c drive and installed a fresh copy of windows. Previously I had a user profile called "Mike" lets say... Now it is a default one "Administrator".

Now I can't access any of these files.... can't open...can't copy to other drives... it says access denied... that I am not authoried...

I really need to recover them...they mean a lot to me!!

A IT guy..told me they are encrypted by previous profile...and that I can't do anything....

I'm sure you people will find me a way to recover them. Maybe to break the encryption or something?!:confused:

what was your previous OS and new OS? because if your old OS was XP and new one is Vista, you gota download a program to take control of files on other drives.

both OS are XP...

An IT guy checked the pc... he says that the files are encrypted....

The thing is... previous profile had no password...and I don't know the password of the Administrator...since somebody else installed originally the OS.

We tried to break the encryption with a software...by writting the a profile name... by the software does not support "no password"... it asks for password of the user...which does not exist...

Any ideas???

You can try to recover the files using DriveImage XML. Create a boot CD, boot your computer from that disk and see if it will allow you to find and copy the files to another hard drive or partition.

If your files name is dark green coloured, it mean yours files is encrypted by windows and you need a certificated from your previous account. If you don't have the certificated, it means armageddon to you.

That is what I was told...that they are encrypted by my previous profile...

I don't have though the password of administrator.... and I can't use the password of the account..since I had no password...
