Cant Access New Hd

i just installed a new 250gb maxtor as a slave and i formatted it and partitioned it and all of that and its recognized under my system properties and everywhere else except My Computer. when i open My Computer all i see is my one hard drive and one of my cd drives (i have two that both work and i have the same access problem with the cd drives) i set the switches to master and slave properly and everything and i can even save things to the drive, it just doesnt appear under My Computer. please help this is an annoying problem. thanks.
 
im running XP. i can access the drive through the control panel and i changed a bunch of directories already to the new drive. i changed my documents directory to it so that when i click my documents on my start menu it brings up my second hard drive with my documents inside. ive got like 11 gigs of stuff on there that i can access no problem. its just that it doesnt show up on My Computer or anywhere else in the directory unless i assign the drive somewhere. i put it on my desktop so now when i go to desktop under windows explorer i can see the drive. but not in my computer still. its a little bit annoying it would just be easier to get it from My Computer under the Hard Drives listing. is there a setting i dont know about that would stop it from showing all of the drives? please help out if you know
 
If I remember correctly, you need to go to computer management and enable the partition. I had a similar problem where the drive was fine(pulled from a working system) but it wouldn't show up on my other system.
