Can't Boot From CD-ROM To Install XP

Hello All,

I'm on a Pentium III 450, trying to install Windows XP. I've been able to format the disk, but every time I try to boot from the install CD, I get:

NTLDR Is Missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete To Restart

I don't think anything is physically wrong with the machine. What can I do?:confused:
 
what that is saying is the operating system is missing (boot info),
the reason this is happening is proberbly because you havent set the first boot device to cdrom.
you need to enter the bios, to do this try tapping the del key during boot up if not you will have to post the pc or what mobo it is, when you get into bios go through it untill you find the part that involves what device is booted first and change it to cdrom save and exit. then when you boot up it will say press any key to boot from cd press it and your on your way ,p.s. when windows has finished formating the hard drive and installing files it will have a red bar saying reboot in 15 seconds after it has rebooted the same message about push any button to boot from cd will appear dont push anything if you do it will want to format again.

there may be an issue with your CD not being bootable. In this instance I don't believe that the machine is managing to boot to the CD.
 
Could be, but the CD I used to format the drive (Seagate DiskWizard) starts up fine. It's just the XP CD that doesn't work (it _is_ an original install CD).
 
Funny enough I had that problem with the same sorta PC! In the end I took the molex power cable out the HDD to boot from CD (really weird but that was the only way I could do it). Anyways when "press any key to boot from CD..." comes up, plug in the power cable into the HDD and press any key.

Bodge job I know but worth a shot I guess.
