Can't Boot

After transfering my computer to my new case, i got this error upon booting up.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.

<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

So how should i reload a copy of this file back onto the computer? My computer is functional right now, but only in safe mode. When i try to boot it up normaly, it boots all the way to my desktop, then automatically restarts.

edit: wierd, now i dont get the error anymore. I can still boot up in safe mode perfectly, as i am in it right now. The computer just restarts the moment it finishes booting. Running virus scans right not..someone please help!

dude, the exact same thing is my problem right now too man. I posted a long thread just above yours. But I know how to fix it, sort of. If you happen to of held on to your windows installation disc, then you pop it in, and use the repair function. What that does is search for any files the operating system needs, due to either corruption of if those files are just not there. That will put the neccesary file/s back on and probably fix your computer. Also, sometimes what causes this problem of ours is simply overheating. Try clearing out your fan in the back of your computer and don't leave it cramped into a little area. Another problem could be the RAM, but I myself am seeking help on that part, so when I find out exactly what about the RAM, I'll let you know. Also, let me know how that virus scan comes out dude, as my computer recieved a virus right around the time my computer started actin like yours. Hope this helped!

Ok, so i went into safe mode, disabled all my startup items/services (besides the essential ones). I got the computer to boot, however, it was a very limited system as all the services were off. I could not get anything to work correctly. So i backed up my data and reinstalled the OS. ANd now, my comptuer does not even get past the windows xp splash screen. It simply goes black and sits there. WTF?!
