Can't Burn CD-R In XP

I have an NEC optical drive and while I can burn data using Nero, I can't burn using XP. When I right click on what I want to burn, the CD ROM doesn't show as an option. On the left side of the window, if I click on "copy files", the CD ROM will show up, but upon clicking, I get a "Drive D: is inaccessible" error. Drive D is showing in "My Computer" and in the Device Manager and is showing to be working. Any ideas? Thanks.

Go to "My Computer" and right click on Drive D and select "Properties",
From there go to the "Recording" tab and check mark "Enable CD recording on this drive".
That should do it!

You're the Man, Marzeth!:D That did it. I have no idea why that whole section was grayed out, unless when installing Nero, I gave it permission to be the default burner. Thanks again.

I think you're right, the Nero installation might have done it.
I'm glad I could help.
Enjoy your straight-from-XP-file-burning!
