Can't change resolutions :(:(

Hey fellas I have a major problem with Doom 3 and Quake 4. You see when I change the video settings it says "Changes will take effect next time you start the game". When I restart the game I get 640X480 resolutions. It is pi**ing me off. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
For Quake 4:
go to your Quake 4 install directory. There should be a file called autoexec.cfg
Open it with notepad and find these lines:
seta r_customHeight
seta r_customWidth
change the numbers to whatever resolution you want them to be.
for example for 1024 x 768 res:

seta r_customHeight "768"
seta r_customWidth "1024"

For Doom 3:
Im not 100% on this but a file called DoomConfig.cfg should be there and you should follow the same procedure as above.

If you dont find these lines in the files, add those lines.
 
backup your saved games somewhere else on your drive and try reinstalling the games, then put the saved game folders in the right directories, see if that works:)
 
Sounds like your graphics card needs drivers reinstalled/updated... What are your specs?
 
I'm wondering if rolling back your Vid driver would help... It just sounds like the game is only going by the resolution settings it "thinks" your card is capable of and defaulting those settings. perhaps there are patches for those games?

And be sure you try a couple of different ones as well. Some of the latest ones from NVidia have been a little screwy, messed some stuff up for me on my computer... (nothing horrible, but annoying none the less)
 
Every time I boot my PC I get a notice stating that Multi GPU has been disabled because one of my GPU's has been uninstalled LOL. I have an "AGP" 6800GT so obviously there was never another one installed :).
 
Yeah, that was an issue with the 91.31 drivers I believe, I had to go back to the 81.95 drivers to get my card working properly and not have that weird notification every time either.
