Can't connect laptop to internet

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 and I can't connect it to the internet. I tried repairing the wireless connection but I got a message that told me that it couldn't renew the IP address. The wired network didn't work because there was an IP address conflict, so I tried to manually change the IP address but I obviously didn't do it properly because the wired connection still doesn't work.

IP address conflict means there is another device on the network with the same address. Are all pc's/devices set to obtain IP adress automatically? How many devices are attached to the network?

I'm not sure if all devices are set to obtain automatically, how would I change it so they are? There are 4 desktops PCs, 2 laptops, my cellphone, and a printer on the network.

Go into your tcp/ip settings of the network controller of each device and make sure settings are set to automatic.

All the devices have their tcp/ip settings set to automatic, I am not getting any IP address conflict messages. However, when I connect the ethernet cable, the icon in the system tray shows a message telling me it's "acquiring network address" and it stays like that forever. The wireless network is connected, with good strength, but still shows "limited or no connectivity."

Make sure the password is entered correctly on the wireless connection. Delete the existing wireless connection and set it back up again. As far as the lan connection not connecting, Have no idea. Try resetting your router as well, that may help.

Nothing seems to be working. I've tried googling this problem as well but so far every suggestion I've tried doesn't work :(

Edit: I've come across this solution: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-problem/15ea5bfc-b86a-4f2e-9668-f3ed005eaa14

However, whenever I try to start the DHCP Client I get this message: error 1075: the dependency service does not exists or has been marked for deletion

so far I cannot get around this error.

I fixed it, just followed this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ot-exist/39ec4b3e-8a6d-48d1-bf52-25fe7c47b3de

:D
