720p HDTV's maximum res is 1360x768 resolution. It will be able to handle these res;
1360 x 768
1024 x 768
960 x 600
800 x 600
nothing above that will display, due to only having 768 pixels accross the screen. On most laptops there is a button that is combined with the function button that either will clone both the laptop and the device connected to it, only send one signal to the attached device or only display the screen on the laptop only. This I believe is the easiest way to switch from a TV to a laptop display.....if it works and it should. How it works is by holding the Fn button found on your laptop and pressing the designated key that has a pitcure of a square box with a line and then a picture of a computer. If its connected, the picture should switch over to the TV and the desktop, hit it once more and it should switch over to only the TV with max res (aka 1360 x 768).
