Cant decide on computer to buy/build

Should I trade in my xbox 360 and games + $250 for my friends gaming rig...or just build my own? His pc includes a dual core processor at roughly 2.8 or 3 ghz
4 gigs of ddr3 ram. a HD radeon 5750 or 5770. The only games I play really is cod4, mw2, bfbc2 and a few others, ill probably try out far cry 2. If I build my own computer I'll probably spend around $1000, not really sure. I have $120 atm. And since im 17 with my job I'll only be able to save about $70-$100 a week. His rig plays mw2 maxed out fine, just need someone to help me decide. :D
 
The trade seems like a fairly good deal, but personally, I prefer building my own rig because it's more fun and all of the hardware/software would be brand new. If you really wanted to, you could sell all your things, and save up some money from your job for a couple months, and then build a really nice, new, machine that's more powerful than your friends.
 
if u think u can afford building a computer yourself, i say go for it!! but if u cant, then the trade is a great deal.
 
hes selling it because i asked him to sell it to me. He used to always play but he stopped playing games and that's all i do. So that's why I would give him my 360 and then $250. I'm buying it anyways wednesday, the only thing that has to be upgraded is the motherboard and processor, but its running at 3.2ghz atm not 2.8 i think is what i posted. but uhh yup!
 
I would say build one yourself and since you have 1000 bucks you can go with a build like this

Mid ATX case with Cable Management
