Cant defrag

I have problems to defragment and hope this section here is the right one to post. I apologize if this has been discussed many many times before. I did read some posts advising what may be the issue but some things I don’t dare to try all by myself as I am a natural talent to mess things up on computers, also some systems were different.
My laptop is about a year old and never tried to defrag before, so a restore point is a no no as I don’t know when that issue started. I actually don’t have issues with my latop but now because I cant defrag I want to know why.
Its Windows 7, I did the disk scan this morning which took about 2 or more hours, then ran Kaspersky in safe mode, nothing detected. My laptop wasn’t running on battery, my screen saver is off, any other power savers off. I have 396GB free of 451GB. Maybe there is nothing to defrag? But wouldn’t it tell me if so?
I click analysing or defragment disk, either way it will go back to 0% fragmented without any further notice. Once it started to defrag but stopped in the middle and went back as mentioned.

In case you guys start giving directions what to do, please be specific and explain step by step. Don’t assume anything with me; my knowledge about computers is rather limited.
With my old computers I used to get that picture during defragmenting where I could see colourful nice things :) telling me what can be moved and what not. Its not coming up on Windows 7 nor on Vista at the other laptop. You would expect a message it is finished or something like that?
Thanks heaps in advance!

See, thats typical me. I ve been reading another thread here and downloaded Diskeeper lite. It still says its free but I get errors. After installing and clicking on that symbol on my Desktop it says: "Diskeeper lite does not allow access via Terminal Services. (What does that mean?) Purchase the full version bla bla." then I click ok and a webpage comes up with an error, saying MMC has detected an error in snap in. Its Turkish to me.

Wft? Any tips? I really appreciate answers!!!!

Hello;
I use this defragger instead of windows, I used to have the diskeeper also. But this on is free.
http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/
And I use defrag and Optimize tab.
Have you checked for malware also.

Thank you, will look into it. Yes I checked for viruses. I use Kaspersky which I also ran in safe mode, nothing.

Okeydokey what sounds normal, that I cant run my windows defrag or that diskeeper didnt work for free tho it claimed to be free? ... or that I stuff things up...

Thanks for all your help!

You probably downloaded aro 2013 from the ad at the bottom and that software is garbage. Don't even use it.

Just keep the defragger, it is free. Do not buy anything. Sometimes cnet has a downloader with some programs, use customizing instead of the regular install and that a way you can decline the extra piggy backing crap that come with it.

Very possible as it wasnt quiet clear to me where to download from.

AlienM: Worked like a treat. I am happy now.

Thanks and bye for now! :)
