can't delete roxio

The drag to disk feature of roxio 7 oem wont' delete. It takes over every disk I put in and won't let any other program work. I try to delete it but get an error message "Access denied". I need a registry expert's advice. I've tried windows delete, no luck. I then opened up the hidden program files and tried to delete it, again, no luck. [email protected].

Turn it off in mscong at startup Should cause a problem then. I have roxio but never had the problem you are.

The quick way to remove Roxio is to simply boot up in safe mode and uninstall it then. You can use the msconfig utility to uncheck all related items there to prevent anything related from starting along with Windows. I run Roxio's Easy Media Creator 8 here for data dvds and ran into the TDriver.exe error constantly. The msconfig settled that fast!

If you intend to keep any portion of version 7 disable all items found in the startup group and services sections in the msconfig utility. You can download a free registry cleaner for removing invalid registry entries like RegCleaner found at http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/archives/reg-cleaner4.3.htm It goes on easy and opens up a main window for manual removal of registry keys if needed.

good suggestions but still no luck

I downloaded two eraser programs. they went through the motions and seemed to be working but when I checked Roxio drag-to-disk was still there. Starting in safe mode and deleting did nothing at all. I'm beginning to think that even a low level format and reload won't get rid of this monster. Maybe it's time I installed that new HD I got for Christmas. Any more s;uggestions?

ok .. well so many saguestions have be made but if u still have problems or anyone that jst wants easy way 2 get rid of programs that jst dont seem 2 go try "killbox" its a program very easy 2 find jst google "killbox" and it ll come up no installing needed jst an exe file very safe jst need 2 find the file and u can either delete it or delete on restart(so it deletes before it even starts running) or it can replace things .. (i have used that option but cant think of wat it was atm) very good program good for getting rid of vurises 2 u no those ones that dont seem 2 delete hope it helps

Did you go into control panel and try the add/remove programs? If something is sticking the task manager can be used to end all of the Roxio items listed under applications. If that still doesn't work type msconfig at the Run prompt off of the Start menu and disable it in the startup and services groups there and restart the system. That will keep it from loading along with Windows.

In the system registry itself you can delete the keys found there manually in both the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software" hives. Once all values are removed you simply delete the folders created in the Program Files directory. Then use one of the freeware registry cleaners to remove any leftovers in the system reg. You manually delete the folders after the keys are deleted and a system restart.

roxio

I tried deleting in the add-delete first. I then tried program files-Roxio. The downloaded eraser program did get rid of some old symantec files I no longer need. Roxio drag-to-disk seems to be a pseudonym for "in your face".

Roxio can be a real pain where it counts at times! I spent $100 retail for burning data dvs in order to backup two hard drives and ran right into the "TDriver.exe" snag with it! That one executable kept hanging on me as another type of annoyance! So what I did was simply remove it totally from the startup list.

Without knowing the exact registry keys to remove for that disabling it from loading along with Windows at start time should help. This is why the msconfig utility is advised here. You simply choose the selective startup option and uncheck all Roxio items in the startup and services tabs. This will allow you to keep the software while not fighting with the drag to disk.

The one thing in the registry hives to look for is the key that names the executable for that. On the version here I have the "diskcopier 8.exe" file without the drag to disk seen. See if you can work around that by dusabling it from autoloading.
