Cant display web pages (sometimes)

Well I finally got my new computer up and running pretty good except when I try to search for items on sites such as Ebay. I can bring up the opening screen but when I type in something I am looking for I get a very light blue blank screen. I will also get an error note sometimes that says "No problem with HTTP connection, but could not make a connection over FTP. The most likely cause is that a firewall client on your machine is blocking the necessary FTP port" (whatever that means) beside that it runs pretty good and I think I must have hit a wrong button someplace. Can someone help ?

Thanks Deano

What operating system is installed and also what security(antivirus) software is installed?

Ebay shouldn't be accessing the web over ftp servers as you aren't trying to download files or anything. Ebay should be either http or https.

Have you some idea how to correct this ? I can bring up the home page but cannot search for anything. All I get is that blank screen and it says "done " in the bottom left of the page. It is very strange

Thanks Deano

What web browser and what version are you using? IE 6 is not secure. I would recommend trying firefox or pale moon. Like I said, ebay shouldn't be trying to access ftp sites.

Hi I beleive I a using IE8, I also downloaded Google Chrome and this program lets me use Ebay and search, but it is a pain having 2 browseres, I am sure that slows my unit down. There has to be an answer as to why this will not work on IE. Come on John, you know everything

If I know everything, that's news to me. All I can tell you is that there are issues with IE. And without me actually looking at it when the issue occurs, its hard to figure out why its doing it.
