Hi dude, maybe you should enable or install the ActiveX that might be needed to download the messenger, Microsoft Internet Explorer usually have this feature to block when you are about to download something and usually you just have to right click on that portion of the browser that is usually located after the toolbar and click Install or Enable, then it will download. And BTW could you post some screen shot of the pop up you're talking about

Yea XP has several things that windows 98 didnt have. The status bar at the top that pups up all the time and you more then likely have to simply click it and say install or download file and then it will work..

sounds like the windows xp firewall is blocking your access
