Can't download from Internet anymore? help please

I can no longer download anything on the net. You know, how it gives you the option to open or save. I click save and it doesn't do anything, it says something like gathering file info

Have you tried using another browser such as FireFox?

I did have firefox but not anymore. I was gonna try downloading the latest version of IE but I can't download anything from the net I would try firefox but I probably couldnt download that either. Let me lay down what is going on, When I open my msn messenger a corrupt file deal pops up. Same when I open the help option. Must have something to do with corrupt files. So I dunno, any suggestions?

Run the check disk utility (Right click on the main hard drive > properties > tools > check now). That should fix/find corrupted files.

When you click "check now", make sure both boxes are checked. You will have to reboot your computer in order to run the test.

I did that and now everything is working normally no more corrupted file bubbles and I can continue with my downloading ways Thanks alot man. Do you have any suggestions for my pc? I was asking someone else about msconfig.exe Can i switch it from normal startup to diagnostic startup to increase speed?
