Can't Download Update

Just replaced hd and am trying to update mb (Bloodrage GTI 1366 Intel X58). Went on Foxconn's site, found all of the updates, but when I click on the various ones, it just sits there and spins. Left the computer alone for an hour and still nothing. Cannot find anything on Foxconn's FAQ's. Any idea how to get them?

So you can't download the drivers? If that's the case it's an issue with Foxconn's website.

OK, just updated BIOS using the Foxconn utility and now during restart, my computer will not boot up. Not sure how to even get to anything on the computer. Can anyone help?

You must not have downloaded the correct file. Most likely you have bricked the motherboard and will need to send it to get repaired.

But I used the Foxconn utility to identify and update. Is it possible that it could be something else? If I need to send it in, I would rather replace it, as that might be easier for me.

You could try clearing CMOS as a last ditch effort, but it sounds like it flashed an invalid image to the EEPROM. So, you'd need a replacement BIOS chip that has a correct image.

Usually they have a checksum check before flashing, however you may have a corrupted image or similar if you didn't verify the MD5 hash prior to flashing.

Is it not booting into Windows, or the board does not complete POST? They are two different events.

OK I just cleared the CMOS, tried booting and the following came up on the screen: AHCI BIOS not installed!! CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded. It is stuck here with the curser blinking. Looking for guidance what to do next.

If it doesn't give you an option to enter bios then its bricked. I know some boards have dual bios chips for back up but not sure how that works.

There is a BIOS ROM 1 and 2. I moved the jumpers to come up on a different ROM and although I get the same message as stated above, I was able to get into the CMOS Setup utility. Does that help me?

Can you access all the bios options like you could before? If so, you should be able to boot into windows.

Not sure what options you are referring. I do know that if I exit and allow the boot process to continue, I get the same messages as stated above. I didn't know if maybe I could reset or do something through this utility to reset the BIOS. Since I also have a laptop, which I am using now, I thought I could download the original version. But am not sure how I could get it onto the computer that isn't working. Once again appreciate your insight.

So you are unable to access bios options to setup defaults and continue to windows? If so, then motherboard is bricked. Any particular reason why you tried to update the bios? Unless the update fixes an issue you are currently having with the board then the usually saying applies..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

OK, got it. Motherboard is bricked. I updated the BIOS because I was starting over with a new hd (one you recommended in another post). In my desire to "do it right", I downloaded all of the latest drivers for the hardware on the computer and was trying to use the "latest" for everything. I did this right after the reinstall of Win 7. Up until the point with the BIOS, everything was going as scheduled. Maybe I should have checked here first. With that being said, I am just going to replace the mb, but I will need some advice. Do you recommend that I start a new post asking for advice or continue with this one?

I don't believe this!! There is a feature in the CMOS utility that says "Load Optimization Default". After I clicked on that, the computer booted into Windows. But now it is saying the Windows needs to be validated, and the the time and date is all screwed up.

OK, I know this sounds crazy. The computer appears to be working fine, although I still have more software to install. Not sure what happened, but is there anything I can do to check and make sure everything in Windows is running the way it should be?
