hmmm so you tried Repair yet ?

Have you been playing with hiding files? Or is it possible that someone else did it?
Because it's possible to hide some file renaming it to (Alt Gr+0160) and changing the icon to none.
The chances that it's done accidentally are 0.001% lol.

The chances that your PC is infected are, however, much bigger and up to 99.9%.

I think it's a good idea to try what patrick suggested but if that doesn't work, you could post your problem in the Security section.

ummm how would i go about using repair

just pop in your XP cd and follow the setup, the very first screen will ask you if you want to do a repair say NO, cause this kind of repair is for recovery console, just follow the setup as if you are really going to setup windows, then you will get another option to repair windows, select it
