cant find disk to install windows xp

Hi Guys,

Ive got a fujitsu Siemens laptop running windows xp pro and recentley its been really slow, ive done virus scan spyware etc but i think its beyond help so im just going to install fresh new copy of xp pro on it
BUT i have a problem when i change the boot priorities to boot from cd and it starts the initial installation procedures and when i hit enter to install windows xp it then says cant find a disk to install it on?!?!?! any help
 
Well did u find out the real cause of why your PC was so slow?
Use process explorer always before running virus scans they help find out any trojans virus running in your PC, its a freeware.

Laptops usually are set to run in ahci mode and XP doesn't have native drivers for it. You will either have to look in the bios to see if you can change the sata controller to IDE mode or compatibility and see if it works or you will have to slipstream the sata controller driver into a new XP install cd. Some laptops don't have the sata controller setting listed which means you'll have to slipstream.
