Whenever I want to play simple flash games or runescape for instance, or even watch a youtube video the computer will lag VERY badly. Please tell me what I should do about this, thanks.

I got flashplayer reinstalled and its still having the same problem. Any other ideas? Does my setup sound decent enough?

If you only play Runescape and flash games, I would recommend trying Ubuntu.
Very easy to install (easier than Windows) and uses less resources. Your PC doesn't have a lot of power, so it'll run faster than a Windows installation.
Ubuntu 13.10 32-bit
Universal USB Installer for Linux

All you need is a USB drive with 1GB of space (recommended that it's empty, since it's better to use it formatted) or a DVD to write it to.
Installation is very straight forward, it's not like Linux in the old days. Once installing, you can even choose to install it along your Windows partition (you might not want to erase your Windows, if you have files and such you want to keep), and use a slider to allocate how much space each partition gets. Then you get promted to choose Ubuntu or Windows during bootup.

Is there anything I can do to upgrade the power? Is it enough power for the things I want to do? (flash games, RS, youtube, internet)

Thanks for the detailed response, should I try Ubuntu or try upgrading the power? I have no files I would wish to keep. Do you think I should delete my Windows or keep it in case? Thanks so much.

What games are you trying to play? Your system is pretty outdated to handle modern games.

I would use Xubuntu instead of Ubuntu. Your PC can probably handle Ubuntu fine, but Xubuntu will be lighter on resourses so you can play Runescape with a higher FPS.

Can you send me the link for the Xunbuntu ISO so I can put it on the USB? Maybe I can try them both. You sure Xubuntu would be my best option for my current setup? Or should I upgrade it.

You can sometimes resinstall Windows without the CD.
Download and install PC Wizard from my sig
Run it and go to file save as, click ok and copy the text out of that file into this thread. This will allow us to ensure you have the motherboard drivers you need upon reinstall.

If you already have these then you can continue.

  1. Back up all your files and ensure you have the motherboard drivers and SATA drivers for XP (in particular the Ethernet / lan driver - this allows you to get back on the internet and install everything else).
  2. Download Magic Jellybean and record your windows key.
  3. Click on My Computer then C: WINDOWS then i386(Sometimes C:\i386). The file you are looking for is called "winnt32.exe".
  4. Double click on winnt32.exe and follow the steps to reinstall Windows XP cleanly
  5. Download and install this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=25129

I'll try the Xubuntu but for some reason I keep getting errors. If this last one doesn't work I'll try doing Windows XP again. Thanks Any other ideas?

When I used Wubi to download Ubuntu it worked but when I restart the PC and load Ubuntu it takes me to the screen to log in. So I log in and then my screen goes black and monitor goes to sleep. Or if I log in as a guest it says something about checking battery and my mouse is frozen. Any help would be appreciated
