Can't get inside 2wire modem/router

As the subject says, I can no longer type in my default gateway (and I've tried many other known ip's for 2wire routers) and get inside my 2wire modem/router.

The default ip for this 2wire has always worked, because I would constantly go into it to port forward. So I don't have the wrong numbers, that I'm sure of. This has been going on a few months, but I never really cared because I had all my most used programs ports' forwarded already.

BUT! I just had the dreadful reformat from Vista back to XP and I cannot get into the router and forward my precious ports.

Why would the numbers just stop working? Does this happen often? If anyone thinks it's best I just call my isp, then sigh... I will do that!

Yes... I just need to learn to google properly because all the stuff I came up with was "I can't connect to my internet on a 2wire! help!"

thank youuu, oh and why exactly is it that an old default gateway IP doesn't work anymore when it used to? If you know..

I dont know that, sorry, thats just the first thing i found when i googled it lol. try searching google a bit more, you might find an answer.

The Old Default Gateway you're thinking of is prob 172.16.0.1

Your firmware probably updated that's why you're on the new scheme.
