can't get into Bios

I just reformatted my computer with Windows XP Pro and now I can't get into the Bios. I need to get into the Bios because I have a 13 in 1 media card reader that is not being recognized. I need to make sure the onboard devices are turned on. Whenever I hit f2 or f12, a screen comes up and says keyboard failure and goes back to windows. I have tried them both on separate restarts. What is wrong? I hope nothing serious.

Well the problem is fixed. What I did was unplugged the media card reader and plugged it back in and everything is fine. I can get into the Bios and the media card reader is showing up under device manager.
