Cant get join in homegroup setup

Dear all
I want to connect desktops and laptops using ethernet cable for data sharing and if possible sharing internet from the laptop. The laptop has wifi and connected to intenet. I have tried home group but join cant appear I have disabled firewall for home network. Even tried ip configuration but cant connect the two computers

You don't want to share internet to multiple systems using one pc. Just connect each pc to network using ethernet or wireless card. Sometimes setting up homegroup to where it works can be a pain. I have a client to where you can view laptop from PC but not vice versa. I've tried setting up multiple times but never got it work. Are they all running the same OS?
